Sometimes we can see heartache coming,
Like standing on the tracks,
Watching a train barreling towards us
Bracing for impact.

Other times it hides in camouflage,
Lurking in the shadows,
Dragging us down into darkness deep,
Helpless in its throws.

The trauma of a loved one’s illness,
Drawn long through the years,
Wearying us with endless highs and lows,
Battles drenched with tears.

The unborn, lost, we will never meet,
Mourned in quiet loss,
Haunting us with memories unmade,
A broken world’s cost.

Why do we have to face these sorrows?
When can we be free?
Nights of mourning turned to dawns of joy,
Endings to this grief?

Heavy hearts must reach for the promises.
Father, God – Divine…
Himself to wipe every tear away,
Yours, and also mine.

Because we all have earthly heartaches,
Hurtings born from life,
Such trouble as the sparks fly upward,
Endings not in sight.

The truth is we are never alone.
Feelings, they will lie.
In heartaches heavy, He walks with us.
God, ever close by.

We doubt His presence because we hurt.
Our eyes, dim with tears,
Cannot see the Father’s grand design
Woven through the years.

Faith is needed to walk the path laid
Before time began.
A sight that sees beyond the trials
Eternity’s plan.

Take courage then, though the weight presses down,
In depths of deep grief.
The God Who Sees holds our tears in hand,
And aching hearts, He will keep.

I remember. Love you. Tomorrow is 2 years for Gma. Grief doesn’t get any less, it’s just that we grow around it. ❤️
